Some bath/shower mixers are shown 'c/w kit'. What is a kit?

The kit No1 (or type number 1) referred to, comprises a shower handset, shower flex, and a wall swivel mounting for the handset.
In the shower section, you will also find "number 2" kits offered. These No2 kits use a slider rail in place of the wall swivel mounting.

How will I know if the tap connection size is correct?

In the Uk, the accepted STANDARD thread size for a basin or sink tap tail is 1/2" BSP(British Standard Pipe).
The accepted size for a bath tap is 3/4" BSP.
These sizes are standard, no matter what make of tap you purchase in the UK.
All monobloc (single hole) taps, on the other hand, are connected to the hot and cold water supplies via two long tails, which can vary in design from make to make.
On our tap ranges these tails are generally 300mm length and 15mm outside diameter.

What is meant by 'cp' and 'gold'?

"CP" is a common trade term, meaning "chromium plated".
Some of our ranges are also offered in a "GOLD" plated finish. This finish is extremely attractive, but special care must be taken when cleaning, as the gold finish is softer than chromium. Abrasive cleaners must not be used on gold finishes.

Why does the Capri range of bathroom taps show so many different types of headwork?

The Capri ranges are built around standard tap bodies, with several alternative styles of quality headwork.
These ranges offer tremendous value, compared with other makes of tap at similar prices.
On the Capri bathroom PRICES page, simply click on a HEADWORK image of your choice, and you will be taken to the correct PRICE page for that particular design.

3 hole basin and bidet taps. What parts are included?

With 3 hole designs of tap, the two hot and cold water valves are mounted separate from the centre spout.
Stub pipes (easily cut & formed, if necessary) are included for the connection of these parts.
A 3hole bidet mixer will also include a divertor valve for rim or spray, plus a douche spray nozzle. Both types of tap include a PUW(pop up waste).

    Top of page

    What is meant by PUW?

Pop up waste. This is used in place of the common plug and chain.
By operating a knob at the rear of the tap, the waste is automatically lifted.

    Tap threads? Are they standard?

Non-monobloc bathroom basin and kitchen sink taps have standard 1/2" BSP (British Standard Pipe) threaded tails.
Bath taps use the standard 3/4" BSP thread.
Threaded tails are 50mm in length.
(For your reference, a 1/2"BSP thread measures 20mm OD, and a 3/4"BSP thread measures 26mm OD).

Will the shower kit from my old bathroom mixer (or my shower mixer) fit onto a TAPSHOP mixer?

Yes, in 99.9% of cases. The accepted UK shower flex size is 1/2"BSP(British Standard Pipe).
If you want to check, unscrew the shower flex from your mixer, and measure the male thread stub. If it measures 20mm diameter, it is 1/2"BSP, and your flex will fit our mixers.

    Top of page

What are your taps made from?

The tap bodies are cast in brass and machined to size, then coated with a variety of surface finishes(chromium, gold, enamel etc) available as quoted in our price lists.
